corporate social responsibility

Ethical business practices and a sense of responsibility to all our stakeholders underpin the firm's activities.

At Maucher Jenkins we look for ways to support the community, through volunteering, charity work and providing legal advice, on a local and a global level.

In the past few years, our efforts have included advising the Rainforest Alliance, office participation in Jeans for Genes day, Children In Need, and Comic Relief, among others. Employees have been sponsored by Maucher Jenkins to run the London Marathon, the Race for Life, and to complete the British Heart Foundation London to Brighton Bike Ride.  As a firm we also make charitable donations at Christmas.

Recently, we formed a joint project with Citibank in collecting and then shipping directly to the Philippines Red Cross much needed supplies in the form of food, clothes, bedding and toiletries to support the victims of Typhoon Haiyan together with a cash appeal which in turn raised over £5,000. Smaller projects include our team in Trade Marks organising a cake sale to support Macmillan Cancer Support.

We make every effort to reduce electrical waste, most of our lights are on automatic timers, and we have a company wide Monitor Switch-Off policy. We look for other ways to be “green” so we recycle all our printer and toner cartridges and whenever our printed headed paper becomes out of date, we have it converted to notepads for use in our meeting and conference rooms. In addition, Maucher Jenkins also has the policy to recycle as much of our paper waste as possible.

We converted to paperless files in 2008, with a significant saving in paper.  Where we create paper files (e.g. in preparation for client meetings or for patent office or trade mark office hearings), we retain these files to avoid printing the same documents over again at a later date.

Maucher Jenkins has a company Cycle To Work program, including a Bicycle Purchase Scheme, where employees may take out an interest-free loan payable over a year to fund a bicycle. Our Farnham office owns two bikes and a collection of helmets, all in order to encourage staff to use alternative modes of transport.
