London Agreement Gains Momentum

On 1 January 2011, Hungary became the 16th state of the 36 EPC contracting states to join the London Agreement.

Accordingly, European patents granted on or after 1 January 2011 that are in English and designate Hungary do not require translation into Hungarian to be validated in that country. Only the claims need to be translated. (The new rules also apply to earlier European patents amended in opposition, appeal or limitation proceedings which are amended on or after that date.)
